Badminton is not a completely new sport for me. However, I never really got coached on it. Badminton was all about a fun and pass time sport for me. But, this year I decided to get serious with this sport and the outcomes are truly startling. I always have been solely dedicated to basketball and football so taking up on Badminton and coming out of my comfort zone was a major challenge for me. With time, I started getting more and more familiar with the sport and I started covering small strides. After being coached from almost a scratch, I realized how wrong my moves were before. There was this one time I felt like quitting badminton and getting back with basketball. However, that little commitment I made to myself in the beginning held me back and today I am glad that I resisted that urge to quit. I started off with replenishing old skills and then gradually I learned new skills, practiced them as much as I could, to attain slight perfection in it. Teamwork plays a major part in sports, and it's the same in badminton. The doubles we play makes me know the essence of team spirit. We depend on our partners in a certain way but most of the time it's about assisting them. All the tactics and skills are tried to be implemented as much as possible. When the planned activity is actually initiated, it truly brings immense contentedness.
However, regardless of being in Badminton, I also am the part of the Ullens Girls Basketball team. We participated in the IB Sports Tournament in GD Goenka, Delhi. The commitment and dedication of the players in the team helped us bag the runners up position in the Girls Basketball. It was my first International game; this tournament made me realize the essence of team spirit and hard work. It assured me that there is nothing one cannot attain if he/she is hardworking.
